Introduction and supplies list

Welcome to this Mixed Media Sunflower painting course!

Let's get started! I have provided you with printable pdfs of my sunflower painting and a simple sketch that you can use. I recommend printing the painting images with the black and white draft setting of your printer to save on ink.

The sketch is yours to use if you would like a starting print for your own painting. I'm going to teach you how to use it to follow your own creative voice and create your OWN unique masterpiece!

Please share your work in our private Facebook Group: Creatively Fit Rockstars

What you will need:

  • A surface to paint on. We can get creative with this. If you don't have a canvas you can use sketch paper and prep the surface with some acrylic white paint. (You do not want to apply paint to unprepared paper) Or maybe you have a small piece of wood or board you would like to use? Again, make sure you prep by applying acrylic white paint. I recommend at least 2 coats.
  • Painting materials such as acrylic paint, craft paint, you can even use oil pastels, colored markers, colored pencils and crayons
  • Found materials such as old magazines or books, scrap book papers and fabric to add a fun collage element to your artwork
  • Craft glue, glue sticks or acrylic medium to apply collage elements if you will using them
  • Mark making materials such as a card board paper towel roll, bottle caps of various sizes, stencils, foam brushes, etc.
  • Brushes if you are using paint, fingers are great too!
  • Old clothing or a smock in case the paint gets on you (it happens)
